    Art and design master's degree approved for ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ

    The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved the first graduate degree for ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ’s College of the Arts, a Master of Arts in Art and Design. The new program, which will be housed in the College’s School of Art and Design, features three tracks in digital animation, art education and museum studies.

    College of the Arts offering free virtual workshops to high school students

    ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ’s College of the Arts is giving high school students a look at what it’s like to be an arts student at KSU by offering a week of creative workshops online and free of charge. The online workshops are an adaptation of ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ State’s annual Summer Arts Intensives, a camp for high school students who are serious about honing their craft and learning more about pursuing college-level work in the arts. During the week of June 1-5, the College of the Arts will present free virtual workshops at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. designed for students interested in art and design, dance, music, and theatre.

    More than 3,500 spring graduates earn degrees from ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ State

    Their official ceremony may be postponed, but more than 3,500 ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ students are graduating this week. The May 2020 class of 3,512 graduate candidates – 2,893 undergraduate and 619 graduate students – marks an increase from last spring’s 3,400 graduates. The students are earning their degrees and receiving their diplomas after KSU transitioned to fully remote learning midway through the semester because of the coronavirus outbreak, which also caused the May Commencement ceremonies to be postponed.

    ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ School of Art and Design seniors typically have a capstone art exhibition in the Fine Arts Gallery, complete with an opening reception catered by the students. Friends and family are invited into the gallery to view the artwork on this special evening. This spring, because of COVID-19 and the move to online learning, the seniors are instead hosting their capstone exhibitions online.
