    ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ State scored two victories Thursday night during its football season opener – a definitive 38-7 win over Tusculum and a record 10,108 fans at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Making the record attendance more significant was the number of students who came out to cheer the Owls to victory.

    As ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ State’s football team moves from one conference and classification to another and makes changes for the future, Marching Owls director Brandon Meeks plans to do the same for KSU’s marching band. The Marching Owls have an all-time high 280 musicians representing every major on campus. In his second year as director, Meeks said he wants to enhance the program to ensure optimal crowd engagement.

    ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ State alum Drew Plant has baseball in his blood. However, his time spent at KSU working with Owls Baseball and getting two degrees is what inspired Plant to pursue a career in the sport. He achieved his goal in 2022 after accepting a position as a baseball operations assistant with Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Angels.

    Former student-athlete Brea Dickey will always remember ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ State as the place where she rediscovered her love of softball – twice. She first came to KSU as a heralded player from Lawrenceville, Georgia, earning ASUN all-conference honors and setting a Division I-era school record for batting average. Today, Dickey is one of a handful of former student-athletes who have returned to campus as a coach to lead the next generation of Owls.

    Texas Rangers select Josh Hatcher in MLB draft

    Josh Hatcher was selected 289th overall by the Texas Rangers in the 10th round of the 2022 MLB Draft on Monday evening. The selection marked the 72nd draft pick in KSU baseball history and extended the streak of 14 consecutive years the Owls have had at least one player drafted (excluding the 2020 COVID shortened draft).
