At 快猫成版视频, professors don鈥檛 just lecture; they light the spark that fuels dreams.
Shimaa recounts that one of the defining moments at KSU was her encounter with Professor Sandra Jones, Assistant Chair of the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development and Senior Lecturer of Software. 鈥淚 first met Professor Jones during my bachelor鈥檚 degree studies, when she was the instructor for my UI course. From that moment, she became a pivotal figure in my academic career and has been the highlight of my experience at KSU.鈥
Ever since their paths crossed, Jones has served as a mentor and guide, offering invaluable educational advice to Shimaa and helping her navigate both her coursework and career aspirations. Jones remarks, 鈥淥ne thing I noticed immediately about Shimaa is her maturity level. She demonstrated very effective communication skills and a willingness to work very hard to exceed her customers鈥 expectations. Her UI skills are exceptional.鈥 She continues, 鈥淪he and I have stayed in touch since that course. She has a commitment to continuing her education and making a career in academia.鈥
It was also through Jones that Shimaa was introduced to Dr. Lavanya Pondichery Sekar, a professor in her graduate studies, and Lecturer of Software Engineering, whom Shimaa considers to be another faculty mentor she can approach when she has questions or needs guidance. Sekar also speaks highly of Shimaa, who has been her graduate teaching assistant (GTA) for the past three semesters. 鈥淲hen hiring GTAs, I personally look for fast learners who can grade work conscientiously by understanding the concepts and giving appropriate feedback to students, and who can manage their work schedule and academics together. Shimaa is one of them,鈥 she adds, 鈥淪himaa has an aptitude for learning things very quickly and is concerned with producing high -
uality work.鈥
Shimaa is currently in the exploratory phase of her research, analyzing academic papers and investigating trends to help define her exact research question. 鈥淭his phase has been exciting for me,鈥 she explains, 鈥渁s it allows me to immerse myself in various perspectives and identify where I can contribute most meaningfully.鈥 Eager to make a difference, her focus lies at the intersection of technology and education, particularly how advancements in areas like generative AI can enhance teaching and learning.
While she initially found the dense language of academic papers daunting, this challenge became a valuable learning experience. Over time, she honed her skills to navigate and understand complex research. 鈥淚 developed a method to distill each paper into its essential concepts and align its findings with my own observations and questions. This process not only improved my comprehension but also fueled a newfound enthusiasm for academic research.鈥 Although she is still refining her research question, she looks forward to exploring innovative solutions that will contribute to her interest in this niche area.
After completing her master鈥檚 degree, she intends to pursue a Ph.D. in Computer Science. 鈥淢y long-term goal is to become a professor, where I can combine research and teaching to inspire future generations. In the short term, I want to work in roles that bridge the tech industry and education, creating innovative solutions that improve accessibility and engagement in learning.鈥 Ultimately, she aims to contribute to the field through research while inspiring and guiding future students, helping them navigate their academic and professional journeys just as her mentors did for her.
Shimaa鈥檚 advice for future students considering the Master of Software Engineering program at KSU is simple: 鈥淒on鈥檛 hesitate鈥攖his program is transformative. Your professors and classmates will be your mentors, allies, and future collaborators. Show up every day ready to give your best,
because the effort you put in and the reputation you build here can open doors you never imagined. The person sitting next to you could be the key to your next opportunity, and the company sponsoring your capstone could become your future employer.鈥 Shimaa emphasizes that success isn鈥檛 just about talent
鈥攊t鈥檚 about collaboration, perseverance, seizing every moment, and celebrating your wins. With the right mindset and support, the possibilities are endless.
