Overview

Upon admission to the KSU Journey Honors College, honors students become eligible for both need- and merit-based honors scholarships. The priority scholarship deadline for Fall 2025 is February 1, 2025. The final deadline for Scholarship consideration is April 1, 2025.

Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 per year. Most are renewable for up to 4 years if the recipient remains in good standing in honors.

Currently, we are unable to offer every student an academic scholarship. However, the KSU Journey Honors College continues to raise funds to provide academic scholarships to as many honors students as possible. We award new scholarships each year to both incoming and continuing honors students. Make sure to fill out the Scholarship Universe application every year to ensure you are considered for all honors and KSU scholarships.

Scholarships for KSU Honors Students

  • For Georgia residents, there are a variety of honors scholarships. Some scholarships have additional eligibility criteria. Scholarship amounts may vary annually based on market performance and other factors.

    Acceptance into a cohort program comes with scholarship funding.

    Out-of-state and international honors students can apply for out-of-state tuition waivers which reduce the tuition amount from the out-of-state to the in-state rate. A limited number of waivers are available, and they are awarded to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Starting Fall 2025, students must be enrolled full time (12 hours minimum in fall and spring) to remain eligible for scholarships. An exception can be made in a final semester if the student has fewer than 12 hours of requirements left to complete the degree.

  • To apply for Honors scholarships, fill out the KSU Scholarship Universe Application after you have been accepted into the KSU Journey Honors College.

  • The priority scholarship deadline for Fall 2025 is February 1, 2025. The final deadline for Scholarship consideration is April 1, 2025.

  • Recipients of scholarships are typically notified of their awards beginning in March. All communication will be sent to the student鈥檚 KSU email account.

  • Students who have been awarded a renewable scholarship must complete the Scholarship Universe application each year. Contingent on funding, most scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years if students remain in good standing in the honors college.

Honors Travel Scholarships

All KSU Journey Honors College students may submit an application for study abroad support. The application linked below will be reviewed on a rolling basis and may be submitted by traditional honors students as well as honors students within any KSU Journey Honors College cohort.

Travel Scholarships for Ancient and Modern Classics cohort students

Students must apply and be accepted first to KSU Journey Honors College and subsequently to the Ancient and Modern Classics cohort to apply for these travel scholarships. The deadline for the Ancient and Modern Classics travel scholarships is in November. All members of the Ancient and Modern Classics cohort will be notified of the application process.

Students seeking study abroad support for the Spring and/or Summer 2024 semesters should submit their applications in November 2023 for best consideration.

  • The Barry and Sylvia Hyman Endowed International Education Scholarship was established in honor of Dr. E. Howard Shealy for his years of exceptional service to the study abroad program in Montepulciano, Italy. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to students properly enrolled in the Honors Ancient and Modern Classics cohort to study abroad in Europe. Recipients are awarded a scholarship to be applied towards the fees associated with their education abroad program.

    • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
    • Must have freshman status and be enrolled in the Honors Ancient and Modern Classics cohort
    • Must be enrolled full or part-time
    • Must be approved to study abroad in Montepulciano, Italy or Harlaxton, UK

  • The Robin Schmidt Shore Endowed Scholarship will provide financial assistance to freshman students admitted to the Honors Ancient and Modern Classics cohort to study abroad in Europe. Recipients are awarded a scholarship to be applied towards the fees associated with their education abroad program.

    • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
    • Must have freshman status and be enrolled in the Honors Ancient and Modern Classics cohort
    • Must be enrolled full-time
    • Must be approved to study abroad in Montepulciano, Italy or Harlaxton, UK

    • Must have freshman status and be enrolled in the Honors Ancient and Modern Classics cohort
    • Must be enrolled full-time
    • Must be approved to study abroad in Montepulciano, Italy or Harlaxton, UK

    • Must have freshman status and be enrolled in the Honors Ancient and Modern Classics cohort
    • Must be enrolled full-time
    • Must be approved to study abroad in Montepulciano, Italy or Harlaxton, UK
    • Financial need as determined by the KSU Office of Student Financial Aid is preferred
