Georgia lawmakers looking to improve veteran services

Dr. Brian Moore, an Army veteran and ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ State professor who leads the Center for the Advancement of Military and Emergency Services (AMES) Research team, testified before the Senate Study Committee on Veterans’ Mental Health and Housing that most veterans can’t afford services.

The committee was commissioned by Lt. Gov. Burt Jones to evaluate the adequacy of both public and private programs and services available in Georgia.

Partnership aimed at addressing structural issues affecting health disparities in Puerto Rico through $6 million NIH award

¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ associate professor of psychology and associate director of the AMES Research Center, Israel Sánchez-Cardona will embark on a five-year, $6 million research initiative sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) aimed at developing partnerships between researchers and community organizations to address structural issues affecting health in Puerto Rico.

KSU professor, AMES seek to innovate law enforcement well-being with COPS grant

¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ Assistant Professor of Psychology Tyler Collette recently secured a Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant with the aim of improving law enforcement well-being. 

Collette, who also serves as director of data core in the Center for Advancement of Military and Emergency Services (AMES) Research, plans to use multi-faceted approach designed to improve both individual and organizational health within the Smyrna Police Department.
