  • Program Description

    The Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics and Intelligent Technology is designed for individuals to advance their knowledge and career options in the data analytic field. he certificate focuses on technologies, systems, and applications that support data analytical processing and intelligent IT operations at various levels. Graduates from the program will develop a solid foundation and gain hands-on experience with up-to-date technologies and systems used in the industry. 

    Admission Requirements

    • Meet all KSU Graduate College Admission Requirements.
    • Resum茅/Vita required. 
      Undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
    • Minimum undergraduate degree GPA 2.75. Lower GPA is considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • Admissions Criteria for Unique Cases
      Prior knowledge in database systems and related data technologies and applications is required. Students who do not have this background will be required to take the following IT foundation courses.
    • -IT 5433 Databases: Design and Applications

    The decision on the foundation course requirement will be made based on applicant鈥檚 prior academic records and will be written in the admission letter.

  • The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Security Program is designed for IT professionals who have a bachelor's degree or have taken the Information Technology Foundations Graduate Certificate (or the equivalent through other course work) to advance their knowledge in the field of information security. 

    Students graduating with this program will have a strong background in fundamental principles and applications of computer security, as well as hands-on experience with security tools commonly used in industry.

  • The Graduate Certificate in Enterprise IT Management is designed for IT professionals who have a bachelor's degree in the computing field in order to advance their knowledge in the field of Enterprise IT Management.

    Prior knowledge in system development and database systems is required. Students whose prior coursework does not suggest that they have the appropriate academic or professional background to be successful in the program may be offered the opportunity to demonstrate adequate mastery on a departmentally-identified or -provided examination. Students not passing or taking the examination may be required to take the following IT foundation courses:

    • IT 5423
    • IT 5433

    The certificate can be taken as a stand-alone program and as an embedded certificate in the MSIT program. The certificate can be taken as a stand-alone program and as an embedded certificate in the MSIT program. Currently enrolled MSIT students can apply the certificate courses towards MSIT requirements and electives.

    Students graduating with this program will develop a solid foundation in industrial standards, best practices and applications in enterprise IT management areas such as IT service management, system acquisition and integration, IT governance, policy and law.

  • The Graduate Certificate in Health Information Technology (Health IT) is designed for individuals who want to advance their knowledge in Health Information Technology. Students will gain hands-on experience through configuring and administering open-source electronic health record systems, applying health data analytics and process mining, and assessing and managing health data security and privacy risks. Graduates with this certificate will have domain knowledge, understanding of healthcare regulations, and IT skills needed in the healthcare industry. The certificate can be taken either as a stand-alone program or as embedded in the Master of Science in Information Technology program.

  • The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Foundations is aimed at individuals who hold an accredited bachelor's degree in an area unrelated to computing but who would like to transition into a Master's program in Information Technology or obtain an entry-level position in the industry. Students who obtain the certificate have skills and knowledge in the areas of programming, web development, database systems, system administration and information assurance and security. All the courses in the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Foundations are offered both face-to-face and online. No Credit by Examination or course substitution.

Steps for Declaring Your Embedded Graduate Certificate

NotePlease only use this form if you are enrolled in the MSIT program. 

You couldn't decleared the embedded graduate certificate after graduation. If you want to pursue the stand-alone graduate certificate, please contact Dr. Shirley Tian for more information.

  1. Please declare your certificate as soon as you want to pursue it.
  2. If you want to declare the 2nd add-on graduate certificate, you need to submit this form again.
  3. The graduate certificate will be added to your degreeworks. You can use the dropdown menu to see all programs you are in.
  4. You must take all courses based on the certificate requirements of the catalog year on which the certificate was declared. If IT Foundation courses are waived at the time of admission, you will not qualify for Graduate Certificate in IT Foundations.
  5. You must submit a petition for the certificate in Owl Express as you would do for your MSIT degree. Please make sure that you follow the petition deadline set by the Registrar鈥檚 Office: 
  6. There will be a $15 certificate Fee to receive your graduate certificate diploma.
  7. A final audit of completed certificate requirements will be conducted by the Registrar鈥檚 Office immediately after the term of completion. Once awarded, you will receive an email from a third-party vendor indicating that the electronic certificate is available to purchase and download (this is not printable, but shareable with potential employers and on social media sites.)
  8. The hard copy petitioned certificate will be mailed to the address of record approximately 6-8 weeks after final audit review. Should you need to make any changes to the address of record or have additional questions, please contact certificate@kennesaw.edu
